0391. Comparison of the histopathologic effects on the lungs of two external chest compression devices (lucas versus autopulse) in a swine model of ventricular fibrillation

چکیده
Introduction Given the difficulty of performing efficient CPR compressions, technology has turned to automaticity. LUCAS device has a pneumatically driven piston to compress the heart and uses active decompression suction on the upstroke. AUTOPULSE is a load distributing band compressor, that is mechanically actuated and battery driven. It provides both direct compression and semi-circumferential thoracic compression.

متن کاملA comparison of autopsy detected injuries in a porcine model of cardiac arrest treated with either manual or mechanical chest compressions.
The objective of this study was to evaluate and compare the complications of cardiopulmonary resuscitation after manual or mechanical chest compressions in a swine model of ventricular fibrillation. In this retrospective study, 106 swine were treated with either manual (n=53) or mechanical chest compressions with the LUCAS device (n=53). All swine cadavers underwent necropsy. The animals with n...
متن کاملCardiopulmonary resuscitation with a novel chest compression device in a porcine model of cardiac arrest: improved hemodynamics and mechanisms.
OBJECTIVES The goal of this study was to determine the magnitude and mechanisms of hemodynamic improvement of an automated, load-distributing band device (AutoPulse, Revivant Corp., Sunnyvale, California) compared with conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (C-CPR). BACKGROUND Improved blood flow during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) enhances survival from cardiac arrest. METHODS A...
متن کاملSafety of mechanical chest compression devices AutoPulse and LUCAS in cardiac arrest: a randomized clinical trial for non-inferiority
Aims Mechanical chest compression (CC) during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with AutoPulse or LUCAS devices has not improved survival from cardiac arrest. Cohort studies suggest risk of excess damage. We studied safety of mechanical CC and determined possible excess damage compared with manual CC. Methods and results This is a randomized non-inferiority safety study. Randomization to Au...
متن کاملMechanical chest compression for out of hospital cardiac arrest: Systematic review and meta-analysis.
AIM To summarise the evidence from randomised controlled trials of mechanical chest compression devices used during resuscitation after out of hospital cardiac arrest. METHODS Systematic review of studies evaluating the effectiveness of mechanical chest compression. We included randomised controlled trials or cluster randomised trials that compared mechanical chest compression (using any devi...
